We are delighted to welcome Hugo van Schaik to the team as Sales & Business Development Director. A Dutch national, Hugo joins Aquator at a pivotal moment in our growth, taking ownership of our commercial strategy across the superyacht, shipyard, and yacht management segments.
A Career Spanning Boardrooms and Boatyards
Few people in the industry bridge two worlds as naturally as Hugo. For over ten years he has operated at the heart of the superyacht brokerage market, serving as a Yacht Broker with Camper & Nicholsons and as Executive Director of Northrop & Johnson. He has bought and sold new and pre-owned superyachts for owners around the world — building the relationships, market intelligence, and brokerage databases that define success in this space.
Hugo's entrepreneurial track record runs alongside that brokerage experience. He founded AvalonYachts to introduce Dutch-built yachts to new markets, advised on the development of recreational waterways, and has consistently worked to open opportunities where few others had a foothold.
Enterprise Discipline Meets Maritime Expertise
Before the yachting industry, Hugo spent more than fifteen years leading complex programmes and transformation initiatives across the financial sector — including portfolio and programme management work with ABN AMRO, RBS, TNT, Philips, and Stater. He holds an MBA from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
That background matters. Aquator is enterprise software for a demanding industry, and selling it well requires someone who understands both the operational reality on board and the structured, process-driven thinking that enterprise buyers expect. Hugo speaks both languages fluently.
